Otis R. Ren, charged with non support of his minor child, pleaded guilty before Judge Reeves. He was sentenced to a term of not less than one year nor more than five years at hard labor, but the sentence was suspended on condition of a $500 bond and weekly child maintenance payments of $2.50, starting March 12, with payments due every Monday. He posted bond and was released from custody.
The slate includes Deacons Adam Irans and Win Heft and Trustees Geo Bauman Chas Motsch and Geo Wyman as part of the ongoing officer nominations.
In a three game series the Lancaster Tires defeated Gordon Supplys after a 808 tie in the first game. Wiking led Gordon with 447 while Lancaster top scorers included Todhunter 185 186 183 and Wills 131 158 166 as they clinched the set and momentum ahead of a clash with Schulmans of Columbus Friday.
Leo W. Sheets seeks judgment for $170 with 6 percent interest on a promissory note dated January 1915. The note is secured by a mortgage now totaling $192.40. Sheets asks for judgment and costs.
The Postmaster General announced that postmasters of the first, second and third eras will face competitive examinations after April 1. Nominees will be sent to the Senate from top lists, with current postmasters serving four-year terms until expiry before tests apply. Democratic leaders oppose the plan, seeing political manipulation risk and possible shifts in House support.

Funeral services for Afiss Catherine Shaler will be held Friday afternoon at 2 45 o'clock after the arrival of the westbound train at the Amanda Presbyterian Church. The body will be laid to rest in the Presbyterian cemetery.
Martha Keister of near the railroad was fined one dollar and costs for using vile language in Mayor's court this morning. Unable to pay, she was jailed again. Charge preferred by Mrs. Margaret Britt.
Sam Welling a T and O C engineer from Columbus suffered crushing injuries to both feet when a second train struck his locomotive at the Hemlock water tank between Logan and Rockbridge after midnight. He was rushed to Logan for treatment and then to Columbus hospital aboard No. 3 at 7:38 AM. Doctors feared amputation but noted the feet were spared from complete crushing.

The document notes Nellie Sale and numerous individuals including Tena Matheny, Lucy Thomas, Catharine Gardner, Margaret Flowers, Lena Beatty, Laura Spung, Daisy Daubenmire, Bertha Feigley, Angela Jones, Florence Thomas, Earth Spurgeon, Clara Voling, Laura Caldwell Wilson, Catharine Hunt, Mary Livingston, Anna Gorham, Elizabeth Miller, Sarah Mathias, Mary F Cole, Dollie Tarner, Mary Legeune, Vera Garling, Nonay Winchester, Lizzie Macklin, Samantha Wilt, Nancy Johnson, Marsie Miller, Blanche Axwell, and others tied to local addresses. The list appears to accompany documentation for secure lane work or related personnel records.

Louis Leach of Lancaster and Eve Lyn Schleich of Lancaster obtained a marriage license. The couple are listed as these individuals and their hometowns in the county records.
After a Sherman Sheridan highway governors gathering, the county unit met in Council Chamber at 7 30 p m with Amanda and Rushville delegations. Z C Rider of Ruskville elected president. A E Huston of Amanda VP. C H Sexauer secretary treasurer. Dr Charles L Bonfield Cincinnati showcased stereoptical road progress, aided by W O W lodge and Werbert Motsch. Tom M Morgan spoke on good roads in Indiana and Ohio, county bylaws adopted, nominating committee named two local advisors, and members from Rushville Amanda Lancaster chosen. Membership drives produced many pledges and a plan for an April meeting with Morgan.
The death occurred of George Tooker aged about forty five from pneumonia after illness since Saturday. He worked at Flynn's Cafe and lived with his sister on Arnold Avenue. He leaves two brothers Joseph and Frank and one sister. He had previously suffered a severe cough about a year and a half ago and was a member of the local lodge of Ells. Funeral arrangements not announced.
Mrs William Wilson is improving at City Hospital after several weeks of treatment and plans to leave for home on East Chestnut Street the first of next week.
A motorized machine gun company of the Thirty third Michigan Infantry is stationed at Fort Stancock Texas to guard the town against a potential Villa raid. An infantry company and a cavalry troop are also stationed there. Captain Crossman commends the unit.
Reports from New York dated March 8 state no transatlantic passenger liners arrived after a successful run of the German submarine blockade. The White Star liner Baltic carried 126 cabin and 10 steerage passengers and docked. The French liner Rochambaut Beau was expected to dock. Berlin reports that the Russian cruiser Rurik, a 15 000 ton armored vessel, struck a mine in the Gulf of Finland and was heavily damaged.
Premier Lloyd George stated in the house of commons that Ireland would get home rule with Ulster excluded and that Ulster could withdraw later. Nationalists and Ulsterites clashed as Redmond’s followers walked out, with critics labeling Lloyd George a turncoat and protesting the compromise.
The senate moves toward a two thirds vote to limit debate with a cloture rule proposed by a ten member conference committee. Democrats back the rule unanimously with 30 Republicans voting yes. Absentees include La Follette and Gronna as debate limits stir talks of ending filibusters.
The Navy Department reports continued action toward securing shipyards as part of a broader government effort. Secretary of the Navy has requested formal statements on condition and capacity from identified operators, with responses due by next Wednesday.
Cablegram from Captain Hansen reports the American schooner Kona destroyed near Kane Saron Island south of Australia. The same illusion baffled observers aboard the schooner W. Marston of San Francisco, which witnessed the mirage and narrowly escaped the fate.
