Washington March 2 The House Democrats were informed of a planned extra session to convene March 8. Representative Bennet announced the notification signed by Belt Garner and Adair urging Democratic members to attend, while the White House denied any immediate call. Two Americans survived after the British bark Galgorm Castle was sunk by a German submarine off Queenstown. Survivors include Tyrt Morret of Beaver Falls Pa and Harry Richardson of Boston. thirteen hours in lifeboats, one boat missing.

Prices fall for onions to six dollars a barrel and potatoes to seven forty a barrel. poultry and eggs show slight declines as protests mount across thirty city meetings.
London reports the German withdrawal along an eleven mile front on both sides of the River Ancre in France. Berlin says ground was evacuated and defense moved to a new line, with movement concealed from the enemy as British advances push north of the Ancre.

United States marines have been landed in Cuba at several points from the sunboat Patd tah off Santiago as the Latin American bureau of the state department notes the situation growing hotter. Unclear whether the landing is precautionary or due to an outbreak.
