During the opening of the ball season in Columbus a section of bleachers gave way injuring about forty, including Russell Wetzel son of Mr and Mrs Jacob Wetzel of this city and OSU student. Officials and doctors responded. most patients were able to leave within hours and likely no permanent injuries.
At a Tuesday board meeting the resignation of Miss Laura Moore was accepted. She has served Lancaster over three years and earned strong affection for her work with the youth. She departs to become Industrial Secretary at Dayton Ohio starting September first, remaining in Lancaster until July first for a rest.
Mrs years, who had been ill for two years, died at 2:30 pm today at her son William Shells home on West Fair Avenue. She leaves two sons, Attorney Brooks Shell and Wm Shell, plus many relatives and friends. Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed.
Salome Starner administratrix of Isaac Starner files to sell 16777 acres in Madison township to settle debts of $250. Personal property insufficient. Hearing set for April 27 at 10 o clock.
Pennsylvania Railway Company schedules a Saturday 2:20 p.m. flag raising inside the yard near High Street entrance. Hon L G Sulbaugh will speak as several hundred employees, joined by Lancaster Union brass band and Boys Industrial School band, march through the city. Ralph Webster directs the program with a full marching outline forthcoming.
Chief of Police Henry J. Wallace introduces a plan issuing tags on vehicles found illegally parked or without lights. The tag directs the owner or driver to appear at the Mayor's court to answer the charge, ensuring visibility of the notice.
The State of Ohio’s tax against Lancaster Leather Co for polluting the Hocking River with acid waste and killing fish was indefinitely postponed. No date set for hearing on the motion to quash and dismiss the warrant and summons. Officials noted Lancaster may need a sewage plant costing 200000 to 600000, while the city bears a 250000 school bond burden.
Lincoln Olive of Bremen drove to Columbus to see the season opening games between Columbus and Louisville in his new Buick Six. A thief stole the automobile, the first Bremen car ever to be taken. Olive belongs to the Bremen Automobile Club which vows to pursue and recover the vehicle.
The ten month old George Edward, youngest child of Mr and Mrs Harry Conrad of West Fair Avenue, died at 7 15 last night after a brief illness due to bowel obstruction. The funeral will be Thursday afternoon at 2 30 at the home 233 West Fair Avenue with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
The Mason Jubilee Singers performed at the Auditorium as part of the Boy Scouts Lyceum Course and drew enthusiastic applause, with many calling it the best attraction so far. Next on the program will be Prof Fox, widely known humorist, date to be announced.
Claus Tombarger 82 died last evening at his home in Herne township after arriving from Hanover Germany in 1848. He leaves one brother Henry and one sister Mrs Catherine Hoffman, eight nephews and five nieces. Funeral Thursday at 1 30 PM at Myers Church Berne township with Rev J P Mosher. burial in Myers Cemetery.

Miss Anna Mary McLee and Attorney M A Daugherty Jr were the principals in a quiet solemnized wedding at St Marys parsonage this afternoon conducted by Rev J Maturpgly Attendants were Mrs Edward Matt and sister of the bride The couple will reside at 634 East Main street after a brief wedding trip. The bride is the daughter of Homer McFee of 730 North Columbus street and the groom is attorneys son in the firm Daugherty and Daugherty. Many social events have honored the bride. The couple have best wishes for a happy life.
Solomon Reedy lies near death after a Tuesday afternoon assault by Ed Swick of Colfax. Swick, arrested by Sheriff George E Smetters and Officer Steve Till, is jailed awaiting Justice Busby’s hearing postponed until Reedy’s condition clarifies. Swick allegedly forced Reedy into his buggy, knocked him out, beat him, and left him on the road. Reedy’s wife reported the incident and a physician aided him. If Reedy dies, the charge may be manslaughter instead of assault to kill.
Cincinnati voters approve a new charter in a special election by a large majority and ratify an ordinance leasing a proposed rapid transit loop to the Cincinnati Traction Company. The measure passes by about two to one margins.
Washington April 18 the senate passed a $7 006 000 000 war finance measure by unanimous vote for bond issuance to fund Allies and hostilities with a $3 9 billion loan to Allies.
