Guenter Burkhardt’s Journey From Chemnitz to American Gardener Tycoon

Guenter Burkhardt, born July 26, 1931 in Chemnitz, survived WWII and postwar upheaval before immigrating to Buffalo in 1953. He built a family, started Burkhardt Nurseries, then founded Good Earth Organics Corp. and Good Earth Canada Ltd. He grew a vast garden empire across the U.S. and Canada, amassing thousands of acres. He was predeceased by his wife Eva in 2022.

Lancaster IDA approves tax abatement for 9 Lancaster Parkway project

At the Lancaster Industrial Development Agency meeting Lancaster Parkway Development LLC seeks a 26 250 tax abatement on a 450 000 flexible use industrial building at 9 Lancaster Parkway on land idle for a decade. The seven year payment aids financing for a speculative building. Dr Bernie Kolber led the presentation and the board suspended rules to grant the inducement.
