New state law announced by Gov. Kathy Hochul shields credit card holders from losing earned rewards. Issuers must give 45 days notice when a rewards program is canceled changed or made less favorable. Consumers get 90 days from notice to redeem under original terms. A grace period applies after account closure to cash in accrued points.
Cheektowaga police contend a large Tuesday night fight in the Walden Galleria food court involved mainly teens ages 13 to 17. a 17-year-old was arrested and pepper spray deployed twice to disperse the violence. No injuries were reported. additional officers assisted from Cheektowaga, State Police, and NFTA police. A separate incident saw an 8-year-old and 10-year-old found with an un loaded toy gun. The gun was confiscated and the children turned over to family.
A year of municipal spending includes 944000 for a beautification corridor and 413000 for a Central Avenue mobility hub along with 206000 for a pocket park beside 5423 Broadway. Residents pushed for a park on town's south side, with a referendum possible after site selection and tax impacts noted. Fireman’s Park pavilion opened during Fall Fest and Christmas events, diversifying community space. Westwood Park nature trails reopen after being closed since 2005. Lancaster held large attendance at annual events and unveiled Cayuga Creek Park with a Lily Belle Meads Renaissance Faire expansion and a new mural funded by Assemblymember Monica Wallace.
