Erie County budget plan trims spending while preserving key programs
In a bipartisan effort the Erie County Legislature passed a 2025 budget reflecting tighter finances after federal aid waned. The plan reduces added positions and park fee increases, preserves funding for Hull House Foundation, food pantries, Meals On Wheels, pediatric cancer work, senior centers, snowmobile clubs, Disc Club Course at Como Lake Park, and a dog control vehicle for Lancaster. It notes rising costs, pension, property tax concerns, and urges keeping Western New York affordable while maintaining essential services.
