Old fire alarm wire hinders Lancaster pole replacements

The Village of Lancaster discussed removing an old fire alarm wire complicating Verizon pole swaps. DPW Superintendent Bill Cansdale proposed hiring two former village workers at 40 per hour for up to a month to safely remove the wire, with training and a village bucket truck required. He warned private contractors would cost more due to insurance. The plan raises liability and workers compensation considerations for temporary staff.
