Two Injured After High Speed Chase Near Lamesa
A high speed chase north of Lamesa ended when the pursued car blew a tire and rolled over, injuring Don Smith and Edward Free who were hospitalized in serious to good condition. Police Sgt Jack Gleghorn pursued from North Dallas and Lynn, speed over 100 mph. A second crash at FM 1584 and US 87 south at Ackerly sent Erasmo Franco to Hogan Malone Hospital in Big Spring in fair condition.

A freak 9:25 am accident left a city bulldozer wandering free after operator Red Jones was knocked off. The crawler rolled across damp grounds and onto the Country Club golf course before police and a patrol fleet halted it. no serious injuries were reported.
