Texas West Oil & Gas Corp filed for No 1 Susie Peterson offset to the Walls Wolfcamp discovery three miles west of Lamesa. Meridian Oil Corp plans No 1 Kimbrell outpost to Dean production in the Tex-Hammon field. Murphy Oil’s J B Walls well previously produced 168 barrels daily at 38.9 gravity.

The Texas Employment Commission reports a bale count of 62 971 for the year in Dawson County with 42 247 bales added in the last two weeks. The Lamesa Classing Office processed 31 825 samples bringing the season total to 77 614 as gins brace for a peak harvest in the next two weeks. Kinnison, a 12 year veteran of local law enforcement, announces his run for Dawson County Sheriff in the May 6 primary.
The Lamesa Chamber of Commerce will replace Industry of the Month with Retailer of the Month in 1972 to boost retail promotion. President Dallas Woods says the plan aims to diversify Chamber efforts and rotate recognition among industries and retailers starting February.
Ralph W. Kinsey incumbent Dawson County Attorney announces he will seek a full four year term starting January 1973. Kinsey, in office since November 1970, seeks the Democratic primary ballot while continuing to serve in the balance of the current term, with family roots in Dawson County and four daughters among his listed relatives.
