The Challenge Answered Sparks Reformer Bill Billing Debate
The Sparks newspaper of Prowers county faces claims it favored economy through cheaper county printing. It cites from 1890 to 1893 the Register’s payments totaling 1790 dollars and 35 cents, plus a saving estimate of around 8100 after deductions, while challenging accusations of misreporting and detailing actual bills for delinquent tax lists and semi annual statements. The piece argues for fiscal prudence and accountability in county administration.

County press bill dispute over charges and Delinquent list
A long report analyzes a 1890 county bill from Lamar Sparks for stationery and printing, charging excessive costs and alleging a deliberate overcharge to the county. It details delinquent tax list publications, court actions, and comparisons with the Rearster paper, including costs, inches printed, and legal requirements for publications under the Australian ballot system. The piece credits the Times-Irrigator with a legal publication in a related suit and notes subsequent rate standings and publication duties.
