Republican County Convention Adopts Permanent Organization
The county convention met by call of the central committee and elected D E Cooper temporary chair and J S McMurtry temporary secretary. It organized committees on credentials and on permanent organization, adopted a detailed program, nominated D W Robinson and C E Billingslea for county judge, and selected delegates to state, congressional, and representative conventions. The resolutions praised Republican principles, lauded Spanish-American War veterans, and endorsed Senator Wolcott. The eagle was chosen as the emblem and the central committee authorized to fill vacancies.
