Republicans of Prowers Endorse McKinley and Silver Tariff
The Prowers County Republican spring convention gathered unusually large numbers. J K Doughty chaired, J D Martin was temporary chair, A M Brenaman temporary secretary. Delegates were chosen for Pueblo conventions and resolutions urged free coinage of silver, protective tariffs, and support for William McKinley. The event contrasted with a secretive Clevelandites gathering criticized as a dark lantern convention.
