Army and Navy Wives Remain Steady as Husbands Go Front
A Chicago woman at a railway depot watched Captain Sigsbee leave for command of the St Paul amid a calm, patriotic crowd. The scene prompted reflections on Army and Navy wives and their training in restraint. Rev E A Ross of an Illinois town told Readers a similar moment when he quizzed congregants who had read Hezekiah, then corrected them that no such book exists in the Bible.

Largest Steel Span Across Niagara Gorge
A monumental steel arch span, claimed as the largest in existence, was erected last month by Penecoyd Bridge Works of Philadelphia for a new Niagara bridge. The main arch measures SOS feet, with approaches of 180 and 210 feet. About 4,000,000 pounds of steel were used. Ends of the arch reach suspension heights, prompting temporary removal of suspension-truss sections to ease construction while keeping workmen safe. After arch completion, the project is expected to yield a far more substantial bridge than any prior suspension bridge.
