Global Grins volunteers sorted and labeled hundreds of toothbrushes destined for the U.S. and abroad from a Laguna Beach event. Since 2011 the Orange County nonprofit has reached nearly 600,000 people in over 100 countries, delivering 100-brush boxes via traveler delivery squads.
Alana raised 22 dollars from neighbors and plus 1746.24 from a GoFundMe to aid the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach. She presented a large check to staff praised by director Mary Beth Steen as every dollar buys a pound of fish. The center has treated 445 sea lions since mass strandings began along the Orange County coast.
Grads from LCAD include students from as far as Germany and China who plan design internships in Cypress at Vans and a Lagu na Beach studio. Shane McClatchey, a drawing and painting major, has a continuing internship and part-time job back in New Jersey and California, reflecting the program’s global reach and local ties.
