City weighs BMP rules as grease interceptors push new builds
Wastewater advisory committee reached agreement not to force existing restaurants to install grease interceptors, while new food service establishments must install properly sized interceptors. BMPs require removal of food grinders, drain screens by December 1, and dry wiping training by October 1. Inspections, posted BMPs, and licensed hauler duties are established. The council also rejected Laguna Channel, but may pursue future collaboration. A fountain at City Hall was removed over safety and corrosion concerns, with art commission evaluating renovation costs.
