National 4-H Week Highlighted by Galveston County Fair
National 4-H Week October 3 9 is proclaimed and the Galveston County 4 H Youth will hold a one day Fair and Exhibit on Saturday October 9 from 10 a m to 5 p m in the parking lot across from the old Post Office in Texas City on Sixth Street between 3rd and 4th Avenues. A band free cookies and 4 H literature are planned with animals on display including rabbits horses cows chickens lambs and more. Exhibits by the Youth include cooking sewing rifle horticulture photography and dog care.

COM Enrollment Up 300 Percent Since Beginning
In the fall term Col lege of the Mainland enrolled 4 670 students, exceeding the 3 100 projection by 1 570. Of these, 1 370 take credit courses, 114 more than last year, while 3 900 are in non credit Continuing Education classes. When classes began in temporary facilities in 1967 only 414 students registered, and credit students now exceed that figure by 300 percent.
