City Joins Flood Control Program
City Council on Monday night unanimously adopted on first reading ordinances qualifying the city for permanent flood insurance protection and governing mobil home parks. Participation depends on incorporating new regulations into subdivision and building codes before December 13. Mayor James Crowder said new construction must meet a minimum flood level at or above the 100 year flood level about 14 feet, with a two year extension pending in Congress. if not approved, the city must be ready for permanent requirements.
