Inter-City Elementary School fourth and fifth graders staged The Case of Seymour Smoker under Mrs. Roth's 5C. James Henderson played Seymour, Carla Johnson portrayed Smoke, and other students depicted smoking effects on Seymour's lungs and body. Stage crew and announcer aided the program with colors, flag salute, poems, and questions about drug abuse.
R G Bob Chenoweth assistant plant manager of Texas City has been named plant manager of Union Carbide Taft Louisiana plant. He arrived in Texas City in October 1970 succeeding Ed Burndrett who moved to Taft as assistant plant manager. Previously he was Associate Director Houston Engineering. At Texas City he oversaw Raw Materials Fuel Gas Nos 2 and 3 Olefins Polyethylene Finishing Reaction and Labs Management Labor Relations and Linde Coordination.

Entries include locations at Masonic Halls and private homes, with organizers and presidents named for Naomi Circle, Bible Band, Pride of La Marque No 166, Heroines of Jericho, and numerous other groups. Meetings span Thursday to Wednesday with times from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
La Marque Intermediate held an Open House and Academic Fair during Public School Week with a PTA meeting electing officers for 73-74. New officers include George Freeborn president and D G Trevino first vice president. Students displayed projects with science rooms showcasing models and black light posters. First, second, and third place honors were awarded to several students, and math room displays featured black light art.
An assembly program on February 15 closed a project involving 133 pupils from Johnnie Burns Seventh grade Spanish classes. The event featured songs dances dialogues and clothing modeling with guest star Hector Castro formerly of Honduras and announcers Keith Martinez and Jeff Leggett.
