Ballet Center Sets Registration for Fall Term
Mainland Ballet Center announces fall term registration on Monday August 21 from 10 a m to 6 p m at the Texas City Studio 920 8th Avenue N. Classes begin August 28 for pre school through advanced students guiding by Marc Ligon director of the center and former soloist with American Ballet Theater Ballet Russe De Monte Carlo and Ballet De San Juan. Ligon leads Ballet Theater on the Bay organized in 1967 under Bay Area Fine Arts Association.

Three area residents from La Marque and Texas City prepare for undergraduate and graduate degrees at Texas Southern University’s Summer Commencement at 7 30 p m Thursday August 17 on the North Lawn campus. James Harold Barrest will receive a Bachelor’s, Joyzelle B Bell a Bachelor’s in Education, and Gwendolyn Mitchell Burns a Master’s in Home Economic Education. The speaker is Dr Joe Jewel Cramer a 1959 honor graduate of TSU and professor at Penn State, who earned an MBA and DBA from Indiana University. Public invited.
