A Boston building collapse burying several workmen leaves one body recovered. Rescue crews continue searching for others as relief efforts proceed.
The Grande Ronde Electric company, after weeks of negotiation, secures a contract with Northwest Gas & Electric to supply power during Morgan Lake shortages. Walter M. Pierce returns from Portland with copper wire to extend the line from Union through North Powder to Rock Creek near Haines. The company seeks 75 workers to dig holes and string poles, aiming to complete in 40 days and prevent a repeat of last winter’s darkness.
All members of the 4. P. O. E. are requested to meet at the lodge hall tomorrow at 1 30 to attend the funeral of our late brother H. E. Neill C 8 Dunn E R.
In Bosse on Sept 28 the high court upheld the anti Dubois faction by denying the petition to certify the Dubois tickets. The ruling settles which ticket controls the Wallace convention race. Alexander heads the successful ticket for governor. The platform denounces the war against the Mormons.
London reports Bryan will be assisted next month by Lady Francis Cook and other noted lecturers. She will pay the expenses of the lecturers so they can travel to America to speak, noting her health prevents her from speaking there personally.
Captain A. M. Paul returns from a voyage abroad to pursue investors for the Aurelia mine on the Grande Ronde river. He says an office has been opened in London to handle business and notes visits to Scotland Hamburg Paris and London with remarks on funds seeking 5 percent returns. He plans to resume mining development after a brief stay in the British capital.
New York reports a decision is expected in a few days from the National League board of directors on the protested game between New York and Chicago from last week. The ruling could determine the pennant winners.
Pendleton September 28 Special. It is expected many indictments will be returned tonight in saloon cases but names and numbers will not be released until arrests are made.

J T Thomas confessed to killing his wife in Bellingham after she allegedly drew a pistol during an argument. He said he shot twice, hid the body in the bedroom, slept, and later buried the remains in the backyard after a drunken two day return. He maintained the act was self defense.
Dr Adolph Gehrman the Hoch Vraal murder witness shot and killed a burglar in his Chicago home early today authorities said Gehrman is an expert who testified in the Hoch Vraal case and was not harmed in the incident
Chicago sept 28 W R Hearst arriving en route to Denver says he will release more letters proving charges against Governor Haskell. He adds that new documents are forthcoming and will be read at the proper time.
