New York Times prints a communication from F S Hastings executor of Grover Cleveland estate denying the Times article attributed to Cleveland about Taft. Hastings cites doubt the piece was written or signed by Cleveland and mentions Mrs. Cleveland’s belief it is not genuine.
A large good roads convention will be held in La Grande on October 13. County Judge Henry and John Collier of the Commercial Club describe strong statewide interest. John H. Scott of Salem, father of the movement, will attend with other boosters. The group requests city shops close that afternoon and hopes farmers will participate to boost local infrastructure. Union County papers are urged to publish notices about the event.

Nome report states head and lower limbs of Mrs Leo Johnson were found by Marshal Warren Johnson, husband and suspect, who fled to Alaska after the five year old murder. He has not yet been located.
