A local open letter attacks liquor influence in Union County politics. It calls laborers outspoken, condemns saloon power, praises reform, and urges June 1 as a time for all tradespeople to vote for prohibition, stressing bipartisan support and nonpartisan local option.
Transfers filed in the Union County recorder's offices for the week ending May 26 1908 include United States to Lathid Hyder patent entries and a deed for block 2 Grandy's addition. Amelia A. Dugaing har patent entries. and United Hatem to J W Cunningham with September 29 dates and land descriptions in local terminology.
A scribe compiled various real estate transfers and patents from local records. Entries include numerous deeds, government patents, and monetary values for parcels in divisions and townships, with several to and from individuals and United States holders.
Department of the Interior announces a land contest against the Christian Bechgaard estate in the 84 acre Nw Xi and Sw Sec 4 Tp 2b Re 6 in La Grande Oregon. Heir identities are unknown and heirs allegedly did not reside on or cultivate the land since his death about 1900. Contestants must appear June 26 1908 before the U S land office in La Grande to present evidence.
