Starkey Prairie Death Not a Murder, Sleep Cause Found
Reports from Eastern Oregon on Saturday and Sunday claimed a man was murdered at Starkey Prairie. Pendleton Deputy Sheriff Blakely and Coroner Folsom learned the deceased had merely slept after a quarrel with his companion, who believed the death was foul play.

D. M. Punt has contracted with Eastern Oil & Gas Co of St Johns Oregon to sink a inch well 2000 feet from Vale. Work to start soon with new machinery built for this drilling, as Punt aims to meet orders promptly. A rotary drill is under construction at La Grande Tron works and will be ready in days.
