Wheat price trends lift outlook for Northwest farmers as patent flour would rise 20 cents per barrel tomorrow. Bluestone wheat sells at 93 cents locally amid good Pacific Northwest yields. J. J. Walter president of Necanney City Hydrocarbon Oil company stays at Hot Lake for a few days. He reports the company expects to have the most oil producing well in Oregon. Oil and gas have been found in quantities deemed commercially valuable by experts brought from California to test the site. A California expert says abundant oil and gas lie within 109 feet of the surface.
Coroner Hoff man said he received letters claiming Rawn, railroad president found dead in his dining room two days ago, was shot by a Black man. He will consider an insurance inquiry request after consulting with the police chief.
In Wallowa County a jury found John Mitchell and John Fipes guilty of selling intoxicating near beer. Chemical analysis showed the drinks contained 5.39 percent alcohol, higher than expected for near beer. The ruling may be appealed and other indictments await trial when court resumes this fall.
Portland attorney A Lafferty has sent his nomination papers here for signatures to place his name on the state ticket for election to Congress from this district. J B Dillinger of Astoria and Judge Ellis of Pendleton join him as the leading expected candidates.

A heavy storm yesterday damaged telephone systems for Home Independent and Pacific, hindering restorations. Union and Cove bore the brunt, with Imbler, Summervill, May park, and Fruitdale soaking through. apples on the west side suffered bruising while late varieties fared better.

A. E. Lake Wasco county Judge Ed Hostetler The Dalles postmaster and Sim Bolton former county clerk visit the city this afternoon en route to Wallowa county. Hostetler is a noted Odd Fellows grand lodge member and officer. Bolton is brother of S N Bolton of the city.
J H Bater of Elgin mills temporarily leads Pioneer mill while regular workers are away on vacation. Bater is noted as a leading flour manufacturer with notable experience the county can boast.
Washington reports the government states there is no blockade at Bluefields and warns that any interference with American property by Madrix will not be tolerated.
Posters for the county fair arrive early to cover Union and Wallowa counties. They are large colored displays telling the fair story and will be posted widely to inform residents and attract attendance.
