J J Clancy says work on the new county hospital at Fruitdale will start immediately and be finished on time. The one story 40 by 42 foot structure will cost $1,622.55 and sit on the county poor farm with a stone foundation and lumber walls.
In 1907 the Oregon Merchants Mutual Fire Insurance Association of Dayton saved over $10,000 by self carrying part of their coverage. In 1908 they expect to save $15,000. Nearby merchants paid about $1,500,000 in profits to outside insurers during the same period.
