A San Francisco report details Ruef and bondholders facing higher taxes as sworn bond statements are taxed more heavily. In San Francisco on July 14 sixty men aboard the British bark Yeoman and the French bark Etrommir had a narrow escape from death after a collision at the dock as both ships prepared to sail. Nobody reported critical injuries. The incident occurred as the vessels were moving out of their berths.
