An Irish paper describes the royal entrance of a king and queen to Dublin in the 16th century pattern. The city is decorated and thousands greet the guests though apparent enthusiasm seems foreign to the people themselves.
An open letter from The Irish Freedom denounces King George's visit as a display that misreads Irish sentiment. It asserts the crowd will not reflect true support but will consist of paid police, garrisons, and poor residents from tenements, treated with the same courtesy as that shown at menageries.
King George and Queen Mary arrived in Dublin aboard the Victoria and Albert and traveled by barge to Victoria wharf. The day featured festive decorations, cheers, and official ceremonies including the Royal College of Science address at Trinity College and a dinner at Dublin Castle, with generally warm public reception and uneven municipal enthusiasm.
