Nevada City Cal Feb 15 A mine disaster was narrowly avoided when crossed wires started a fire in the pumping station on the 1200 foot level at Gras Valley Bruns wick mine, trapping 30 miners who reached a shaft just as hope faded. They were brought to the surface exhausted as black smoke belched from the shaft. Fire now roars in the wood work.
