Otho Eckersley, administrator of the William J. Shoemaker estate, has filed the final account. Union County Oregon Court sets hearing for January 4, 1909 at 2 PM in La Grande for the report and any objections. Dated December 4, 1908. Also: advertisement for clothing cleaning services by L B Winn.
An advertisement listing services at Williamson's Office including public stenography and typing. It notes addresses 1414 Adams Avenue and 1149 Foley Black with phone references, and claims twenty years of experience in civil and structural surveying and engineering.
Port au Prince Haiti December 4 General Simon's advance guards entered the capital at daybreak and authorities predicted he would take charge of affairs in Hayti today. Anarchy may prevail for a long time unless he assumes control.
A December 4 report to the court from the grand jury condemns Mayor James C. Dahlman and city officials as having "absolutely no regard" for official duties and failing to enforce the law. The document accuses officials of frank admissions and serious neglect of duty.
The passage credits Dahlman as a longtime leader in the state's democratic politics, noting his roles as a member of the national democratic campaign committee and Bryon’s teaching adviser, while criticizing the conception of their actions as neither honest nor able.
