Rumors say the 0 R N line will relocate the depot about ten feet from tracks and add a cement platform between the depot and main line. A vacant lot near Jefferson Avenue would become a lawn with a fountain and flower beds. The railroad may pave the street from the depot, and improve the surrounding quarter, boosting La Grande as a paving center.

Threshing in Umatilla county has sped up over 10 days with estimates of about 70 percent of an average crop, totaling around 3.5 million bushels. Some areas exceed average yields while others remain uncut, hurting small farmers and homesteaders. Frank Rogers of Kerr-Gifford notes nearly a quarter of the crop sold at about 80 cents per bushel as the market trends downward and farmers hold off selling. Club wheat quoted at 76 cents locally, down one cent from previous day.
