The Presbyterian church hosts a mass meeting at 7 pm to adopt or reject a drafted set of by-laws for a reorganized club. The document sets membership age at 21, initiation fee $5, monthly dues $1, and dues timing rules. Charles Amon Cogswell of Milwaukie and Warner Valley Livestock, former state senator and Portland executive board member, collapsed and died on an interurban car as it approached Portland. He had strong ties to southern Oregon and northern California business circles.
Prof George H Boke head of the California law department announces at a San Francisco dinner that a 1 000 000 endowment will be given to the University of California law school. The gift aims to create a premier faculty and a curriculum focused on legal study and state affairs.
The deceased, a prominent Oregon financier with substantial California realty holdings, held directorships in banks and in the Oregon Life Insurance company. A two term state senator, he also served as county judge in Lake County. He came to Oregon in 1869 and was 164 years old.
