Pendleton Horse Theft Trial Attracts Noted Pioneers
In Pendleton on a change of venue from Union county, R W Deal a veteran Union county pioneer and prominent Indiana horseman stands trial in the circuit court for horse theft from E L Halley of Island City. About 20 witnesses from Grande Ronde valley attend as jurors are chosen. Deal previously served time in 1902 for horse theft but was pardoned for age and behavior. The Barnum Bailey circus is announced for La Grande with lavish review of its feats and performers drawing public interest.

Lost hogs and land rental notices at Cove Oregon
A notice from April 6 1908 states possession of five hogs to be returned to rightful owners upon proof of ownership and charges. Hogs described as two 100s marked swallow fork two unmarked two saw split and underbit in each ear. The stock are at the old Frank Mitchell place at Cove Oregon. Also a rental ad lists 1520 acres stock ranch near Union with alfalfa and water, plus 936 acres of esistent land for rent, by Bramwell and Black.
