Pendleton Triumphs Over La Grande In Weekend Games
La Grande baseball club suffered two straight losses with 6 to 0 and 14 to 4 defeats to Pendleton after weather hampered practice. Heslin started pitching Sunday until a benching followed a ground clash and a Pendleton run spree. Track tryouts at the fairgrounds produced close finishes with Bolton Williamson and Earls leading sprints and hurdles. Summerville beat Elgin 7 to 4 to open the baseball season while North Powder crushed Haines 18 to 6. Boston and Philadelphia also played a morning game in the American series.
