A long article lauds Tom Richardson for boosting Portland’s growth, notes past rivalries cooled, and asserts the city’s progress benefits the entire state. It urges statewide planning for a Fourth of July celebration, cites a $100 treasury balance, and highlights support for Senator Fulton and Mr Cake.
Mrs. Quinn of La Grande died in Portland Saturday after a brief illness from appendicitis. The body was shipped to Chicago via La Grande. She and her husband had worked in La Grande with her daughter Mildred, while he served as signal service superintendent. Known as a skilled musician, she made many friendships during her stay.

The post office begins night service, distributing incoming mail the same evening. No. 2 and No. 6 mail will be handed out immediately after arrival, with first and second class matter placed in boxes. Arthur Van Fiveet and Don Scott will staff the rounds on alternate weeks.
Local Knights of Pythias invite prominent national officials to La Grande tonight. W. M. Wall, grand chancellor, LL. J. sun aon, grand keeper of records and sent jand, and a supreme representative will attend. Visitors travel by tonight's train and plan to go to Baker City tomorrow for a dedication.
A. H. Thurnes of Buffalo Ohio testifies to kidney and bladder trouble lasting years. He reports relief after taking Foley's Kidney Cure with pain ending and brick dust stones diminishing, claiming it did the thousand dollars worth of good.
Samuel T. Boothe sues Myrtle Boothe in the Union County Circuit Court. The defendant is summoned to appear and answer the complaint in the case filed in Oregon.
The plaintiff asks the court for a decree declaring the marriage contract null and void and for further relief as equity requires. The summons is published for six weeks in the Evening Observer of La Grande Oregon by order of Judge Thomas Crawford dated March 21 1908.
The reader complains about spending excessive time gathering data on every town in two states and compiling a Classicified business directory. The remark implies a critique of broad scope and inefficiency.
James Brady of Starkey Oregon files notice of intention to make five year proof for Homestead entry No 127 for lots 1 and 2 and E of NW section 31, T2S R36, with April 22 1908 date set for proof before the La Grande Oregon Register and Receiver. Witnesses Elam Jones John M Jones Ben Hagey Jeff Ayers, all of Starkey.
