Large crowd hears H. M. Cake at county GOP meeting

Hon. H. M. Cake addressed a large Republican gathering last evening as five-minute speeches were urged from candidates for the legislature. L. J. Davis of Union and others spoke, with Cake praising Roosevelt and denouncing railroad policies in Oregon.

Funeral for Integra Jack Smith Held in Local Church

The remains of Integra Jack Smith who died in Phoenix Arizona last Saturday were brought here and taken to Mrs Emma Rankin's home. Funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian church this afternoon by Rev W I Van Nuyn of Pendleton. A choir including Mesdames A L Richardson T J Scroggin J J Carr and Messrs Sherwood Williams and G T Cochran sang. The church was well filled with friends and relatives. Flowers adorned the casket. Railroad men attended in large numbers as the husband is a member of the conductor force that operates passenger trains through the city.
