Traders expect a possible extra dividend and a stock price rise on the prospect. The body of Michael Driscoll was found in an arroyo near the Jewel mine, with death possibly accidental or strike-related. Governor Ammons’ threat to curb Mother Jones provoked a sharp reply from her. Denver newspaper staff faced threats while visiting the Hastings camp of Victor American Fuel.
William Freise stage manager at the Majestic theater was cut on the forehead and arm when his motorcycle collided with an automobile driven by Arthur Evans at the Eighth and Market streets corner at noon. Freise’s companion James McKillip fell but was unharmed. Evans moved both riders to a drugstore for treatment.
A city Mission banquet is planned for next Monday night at the Y M C A with Superintendent D C Dewey coordinating. Speakers include Melvin E Trotter national superintendent of Rescue Missions Superintendent McFarlane of the St Paul Mission and Superintendent Silloway of Milwaukee with Mr Trotter delivering the principal address.
The divorce suit of Mrs. W. W. West was adjourned until the next term of court. She seeks separation alleging incompatibility of temper and cruel and inhuman treatment.
Judge E C Higbee designated October 18 as the next motion day for the case.
Despite inclement weather on two days, the fair drew larger crowds and higher gate receipts than past years. Exhibitors hauled out stock through the night as trains filled with departing visitors. Prize money totaled 3500 dollars paid to cattle breeders with remaining premiums to be mailed after October 10.
Brussels report says Mlle Du Monceau de Bergendael bought the famed stolen pearl necklace for 700000 dollars. She agreed to pay Jeweler Mar Meyer 50000 dollars if the two missing pearls are recovered. The necklace’s loss had been valued at 650000 dollars.
