The La Crosse Tribune offers four complete Shetland pony outfits to boys and girls sixteen years old and under from La Crosse and surrounding counties. Each outfit includes a thoroughbred Shetland pony harness and a four wheeled rubber tired buggy.
The Tribune announces a voting contest offering a complete Shetland Pony Outfit to two city youths who win. Prizes extend to one boy or girl in Wisconsin outside the city and to a winner in Minnesota or Iowa, all including a thoroughbred pony, harness, and rubber-tired buggy.
The La Crosse newspaper offers a ten percent commission to contestants who do not win prizes, on new business they bring in for subscriptions. If a contestant brings in $500 in new business and does not win, they receive $50. This liberal incentive is aimed at all participants in the Tony Pony contest.
The La Crosse Daily Tribune outlines four districts for voting winners. District 1 covers La Crosse south side, District 2 covers La Crosse north side, District 3 includes all territory outside La Crosse in Wisconsin, and District 4 includes Minnesota and Iowa regions.
The La Crosse Tribune invites youths 16 or younger to enter by proper nomination on a paper ballot. Nominators may be friends or the candidates themselves, with daily published results and a coupon worth ten votes. Ballots must be sent directly to the Contest Manager with prepaid postage, and prizes or commissions are awarded for new business brought in, with ten percent commission on subscriptions for nonwinning contestants.
Selection of the winners will be by ballot with votes from subscriptions coupons and nomination blanks. Subscribers gain votes for selecting a boy or girl, coupons in each issue count as ten votes, and nomination blanks count 25 votes. Winners are the most popular and best organized youths.
The four complete Shetland Pony Outfits will be awarded to the top vote recipients in four districts. District 1 south side carrier route. District 2 north side. District 3 all of Wisconsin. District 4 states of Minnesota and Iowa.
The contest opened Saturday September 12 and closes Saturday November 7. Four boys and girls will win prizes. Start collecting coupons and subscriptions now. An early start helps. Ask friends and their networks to participate.
