In fHRONGING CITY, agriculturalists praise Farmers Day as a landmark event. More than 4,000 farmers attended by 2:15 p.m., with 3,652 badges issued and totals expected to rise toward 4,900 as arrivals continued. A public square ceremony symbolized city country unity.

The baby show drew praise and third prize was created to settle the judging. Theaters were crowded and motor parties toured factories. The Kreutz-Andre band provided music as the Majestic theater filled. John Nestler and his sister demonstrated towering heights on the scale, and William Hanson brought a nineteen-person family in one wagon.

President Wilson has approved Secretary Redfield’s probe into manufacturers who may shutter plants or cut wages claiming tariff law pressure. An appropriation to fund the investigation will be urged in Congress.
President Wilson named Victoriano Mapa to join the Philippine commission and secretary of finance and justice. He also nominated Jaime C. De Veyra Vincente Ilustre and Vincente Singson as Philippine commission members.
The North German Lloyd liner Seydlitz docking at 5 PM with forty six Volturno survivors aboard. The rescue ship passed Delaware breakwater earlier and will dock tonight while immigration officials at Marcus Hook quarantine station arrange immediate care for the rescued emigrants.
Samuel Altman, manager of the local Canadian Pacific Railway agency in Vienna, was arrested on October 16 for promoting emigration to America by men liable for military service.
The Narragansett arrived at Tilbury docks to assist in the Volturno disaster relief. Pumping hundreds of gallons of oil calmed the seas and allowed rescue ships to save survivors. A tug crewed by a brass band met the tanker and escorted it in as CONQUERING HERO played.
