Wisconsin suspends its swine flu immunization program for 72 hours after reports that three Pittsburgh residents died following vaccination. State health officials caution there is no current evidence the deaths were vaccine related and await CDC findings within 72 hours before deciding on resumption or modification.
The statewide swine flu program was suspended for 72 hours after three Pittsburgh deaths linked to vaccination. Mitzi Parr, county health nurse, urged calm and said autopsies would determine if shots caused the deaths. About 200 people received shots today and 150 Monday in county clinics. City Health Officer George Baldwin confirmed the halt and noted the next clinic is Friday.
Campbell residents rally Monday at Summit School to oppose the November 2 levy increase of about 62 000 over the limit. James Moe and former clerk Fred Lehmeier will speak along with Loren Copsey and Donald Jobe, outlining alleged mishandling of funds and calling for budget cuts.

Kenneth Parkinson is acquitted. Trial stemmed from efforts to thwart 1972 break in investigations. Dist Judge Sirica led the case. Nixon named as unindicted coconspirator.

Bruce Edward Schaaf 26 of Chaska pleaded guilty in US District Court to broadcasting a false distress call. He admitted making the Aug 4 hoax from a truck in downtown Shakopee that drew up to 75 rescuers and two helicopters. A presentence investigation was ordered. He apologized to the judge.
