U N Protest Over MIG Attack At Sea
The United Nations protested to the Military Armistice Commission that a Tuesday air attack by Communist MIGs on American Sabre jets was unprovoked and occurred largely over international waters. The UN said two or more MIGs were destroyed with no losses to US planes amid a fiery eight minute battle near Sinuiju. Peiping charged the Sabres intruded into northeast China and claimed one Sabre was shot down with two damaged. The UN warned the Reds they were trying to use Korean bases as sanctuaries and that US planes would defend themselves if attacked. The Seventh Air Force reported shooting down two MIGs and possibly destroying two more after being attacked by 32 MIGs, with no American losses.
