In early April A D 29 a vast crowd gathered by the Lake of Galilee. Jesus fed five thousand with five barley loaves and two fish after disciples reported the miracle to Herod Antipas, provoking doubt among the court. The scene unfolded as Herod doubted and watched the Master grow in influence.
Officials from Campbell town and three eastern districts favored attaching to the La Crosse city system at a county meeting. Some districts west of La Crosse on French Island were already attached in January. Onalaska officials urged shifting joint district No. 3 to Onalaska. Further meetings will decide formal action with the city council and board of education.
Two vehicles attempting to pass simultaneously caused an auto transport owned by C. and J. of Milwaukee to leave the road into a ditch. John Markey of 5012 Main street sustained about 200 in damage to his car. The incident occurred at 4 45 p m near Veterans Memorial park on highway 16 as three cars converged toward La Crosse.
City Clerk Fred Kramer said the office will stay open until 4 p.m. Saturday to register voters for the April 4 election. The registration deadline is 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
A rapid blaze destroyed the concrete block home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Chase in Port Huron Michigan on Friday. Undersheriff A J Foster identified the victims as Kenneth Chase 42 his wife Phyllis an expectant mother and their four children Judith six Nancy four Ralph three and Rebecca two. The fire is believed to have started in the living room after the couple had played cards earlier with another couple.

The changes follow informal canvassing by local and third district GOP groups and a review by Wayne Hood and the governor’s office.
Warren Beson, former Minnesota football star and Baltimore Colts player, signed by La Crosse board of education as Central High School football coach. He replaces Walter Babe Weigent and will coach next fall. Current coaches stay as teachers. basketball coach Mark Sutton reportedly seeks to remain.
