A Manitoba high brings cooler readings tonight and Tuesday, while overall conditions remain clear in the Atlantic and Gulf states with frost in the south.
A clash at the border left sixty Mexicans involved as twenty American soldiers faced off. Six of the attackers were killed in the confrontation, with details pending. Authorities investigate the incident and assess security measures along the frontier.
Washington confirms a clash between American colored troops and Mexican rebels near Douglas Arizona on Sunday. Six Mexicans were killed or wounded, while four American officers escaped unharmed. Stoughton Wisconsin March 3 Hundreds of lives were endangered when the Janesville and Prairie du Chien passenger train on the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul railroad crashed into the rear of a freight train on a side track. The impact threw the passenger engine from the track but engineer James Mills kept the train under control by braking and reversing. Conductor John Kayes of Madison in the baggage car was thrown the length of the car and bruised. Passengers were ejected and many sustained minor injuries.
Mrs. Anna Koller 54 a longtime La Crosse resident died Saturday night from heart disease. Born in Bavaria April 23 1858 she came to the U S as a child. Survived by six daughters and two sons she belonged to the Third Order and St Anne societies. Funeral Wednesday at 8:20 from home and 9 o'clock at Holy Trinity Church burial in Catholic Cemetery.
Washington March 3 By passing today Senator La Follette s bill limiting the power of the federal courts to suspend orders of state railroad commissions and pass upon the validity of state traffic statutes the house today sent the measure to President Taft The measure provides for hearing of applications for interlocutory injunctions in such cases before three federal judges after the state courts have passed on the statute attacked.
In Trenton New Jersey March 3 a suit for dissolution of an alleged Thread trust was filed in federal court by Attorney John Vreeland for the Department of Justice. The American Thread Company and allied concerns face a perpetual injunction to stop alleged Sherman anti trust violations.

Washington March 3 by a 119 to 9 vote the house favored appropriating funds for a government exhibit at the San Francisco exposition. The vote instructed house conferees to agree to an appropriation but the exact sum was not fixed.
Washington March 3 The house approved the general omnibus lighthouse bill providing 1 600 000 for new lighthouses and navigation light stations 45000 for Ashtabula harbor Ohio 17600 for fog signals Cleveland 35000 for Lorain harbor Ohio and 25000 for Ashland Wisconsin all as part of the appropriations.
John W. Havens also known as Henry Heavens pleaded that he was a cocaine fiend when arraigned in county court for stealing a watch and a revolver from Lorenz Fring, who lived at the same house. He admitted the theft and blamed the drug for his irresponsibility. Judge Brindley sentenced him to forty five days in the county jail after Havens was nabbed in Winona Saturday.
Deputy Sheriff George Ritter left for St Paul to fetch FE J Sullivan, wanted for stealing 73 dollars from Gerald H Frost, a Milwaukee Road River division conductor. Sullivan was arrested in St Paul yesterday on a description from Chief Weber. The theft occurred last Thursday and extradition may face resistance.
