WIAA tournament plan sparks confusion among fans

In a survey of fans and The La Crosse Tribune Sports Department, changes to Wisconsin high school basketball structure under the WIAA are outlined. The new plan eliminates consolation games, alters tournament names, and introduces a four team sub regional for small schools, with sub sectional play feeding into sectionals. The result is two parallel playoffs, regional for big schools and sub regional and sub sectional for small schools, aiming to fit a tighter schedule for state events.
