Elderly bookkeeper Adolph Frederick Ends Life After Rejected Marriage Proposal
Adolph Frederick a 60 year old bookkeeper at C. L. Colman Lumber killed himself with a revolver in his Wilson boarding house room after a rejected marriage proposal to Miss Caroline Kolbry of Memphis Tennessee. Flowers lay on his chest as the pistol discharged and the daisies fell from the vase. Frederick, once Minnesota legislator and lodge leader, had endured the loss of his wife two years earlier and had become fond of the younger Miss Kolbry during her stay in the city. He followed her to St Paul after a visit to the Mississippi steamer Sidney, then returned home and ended his life early morning. His funeral will be held under lodge auspices once his son in Minneapolis is notified. A note and legal documents were found in a tin box.
