Dr K A Kinney 30 and three young women Myrtle Judd 22 Nora Edwards 18 Helen Godfrey 18 drowned when a camp boat capsized on the Mississippi near Cassville Wisconsin. Kinney dived to save them but was pulled under. his body and Helen Godfrey were recovered with others still missing as campers searched along the river.
Alderman William J. Torrance has purchased the Pratt property on Jay street between Front and Second in La Crosse, including a lot and two houses once known as vice dens. He plans to remodel the brick houses into flats for workingmen and expects the sale to close in July after title checks.
