La Crosse Boosters Celebrate Lansing Visit In Joyful Extravaganza
A large La Crosse delegation returned from Lansing praising hospitality and entertainment. The 800 visitors filled the ship and levee with song and cheer, staged a cheerful Merry Widow hat raid on a harness shop, and declared Lansing a triumph of welcome and fun in a holiday mood. The event ended with band performances and reflections on the warm reception.

The death of Capt. George H. Dalton at 10 o'clock this morning followed a year of heart failure and gradual decline. Born in New Vienna Ohio he moved to Onalaska as a boy then La Crosse where he resided. A prominent G A R member and a 32nd degree Mason Dalton was renowned for his knowledge of Masonry and is said to have memorized the entire work. Funeral services from the Masonic Temple Sunday. In New London on June 25 Yale won the four oared varsity race and Harvard took the eight oared freshmen event in the annual dual regatta. Yale led early and held on despite a steering mishap, final times Yale 10 33½, Harvard 10 43½ for the varsity. Harvard 9 38½, Yale 9 47½ for the freshmen.
