Two Men Die in Norwich Gun Battle Over Wife
In Norwich Connecticut two men shot each other to death in a stand off over a woman. Ralph Schnatter 30 a shipping clerk and Robert Miller 42 a Willimantic lineman were killed. Miller had planned to marry Schnatter's wife after her divorce. Mrs Jennie Barry Schnatter's mother said Schnatter fired a shotgun blast at Miller after Miller swore at him. Miller, though hit, fired five shots from a .32 revolver at Schnatter. Schnatter then fired a final shot from his own .32 revolver.

County judge drowns after boat accident on Bartletts Ferry Lake
In Lee County Alabama Judge Harry E. Randall, 30, fell from a fishing boat into Bartletts Ferry Lake on the Chattahoochee River and drowned. Cain Mims, a 70 year old Black employee who was aboard, tried to rescue him with a paddle then screamed for help for an hour before authorities recovered the judge's body two hours after the fall.
