Streamline Wisconsin probate for small estates say UW economist
Prof J H Beuscher and Edward H Ward argue Wisconsin probate is costly and slow, especially for small estates. In Dane County data show 42 percent of dependents pass through probate and 45 percent of estates are under 5 000 dollars. They urge simpler rules and joint tenancy presumption for widowed spouses with estates of five thousand dollars or less.
