A district attorney in La Crosse County delivers a stern ultimatum to road house owners and operators. The notice vows vigorous prosecutions for violations of liquor laws especially involving minors and the sale of intoxicants.
In Long Beach California at 8 am the submarine Boat Cage descended for an endurance test and had been underwater twenty seven hours to set a new world record. The previous record of twenty four hours was set by the Octopus at Narragansett Pier in 1907. Commanders expect continuation until 5 pm to reach thirty six hours. The Cage was invented by John M Cage of Long Beach.
The body of Edward Cutting son of Conductor W A Cutting of the Milwaukee railroad Dubuque division will arrive tomorrow morning from Dubuque. It will be taken from the depot to Oak Grove cemetery for interment with Rev. J E Watson officiating.
The Spanish cabinet resigned this afternoon and both houses of the assembly were suspended, according to a Madrid news agency dispatch.
The U S Supreme Court rules riparian owners have no private title to running water in navigable streams, challenging Wisconsin’s 1911 water power law. The Chand ler-Dunbar Co case involved St Marys River improvements and a revoked U S permit, with the court saying private ownership of running water is inconceivable.

Four are dead including the chief engineer and two helpers after a boiler blast on the coal barge E. M. Peck in Racine Wisconsin. The barge’s stern blew out and coal cargo burned as firemen fight the blaze. two others are injured and more bodies may be in the hold. The vessel likely will sink.
A suffragist sympathizer from the visitors’ gallery hurled a bag of flour at Premier Asquith during a Commons session in London. The flour burst on the floor, covering cabinet members, as the man shouted about Emily Davison and was subdued and arrested amid wild disorder.
Fremont Wisconsin June 11 a high powered roadster at a sharp curve leaped into the air killing Don a d Connor 24 son of former lieutenant governor William D Connor of Marshfield and University of Wisconsin graduate and fatally injuring Miss Nora Braun 20 who was trapped in the car Connor died after whispering I am praying to God to help me Miss Braun was taken to a hospital with slim chances of recovery
Under City Mission superintendent D C Dewey and evangelist Rev F L Holden two weeks of preaching begin at Market Square. Holden brings New York Chicago and La Crosse ties and Dewey is well known for his humane Christian influence. Tomorrow features singing by First Methodist women and a closing revival may be held at First Presbyterian on Sunday evening June 22.
Margaret Keller seven died after injuries from an axe attack that killed her father in Harrisonville. Police reported the incident happened last night with details limited to the murder by her father and the child’s death.

In Weaver Minnesota near Winona two burglars blew open the R J Montgomery post office and store safe with eight blasts about 2 am. They fled in a skiff after a rear door escape while guards fired but missed. About $600 was taken. Local residents and a rescue party exchanged gunfire but no injuries were reported.
In Rossiter Pa a 16 inning baseball marathon the upper and lower Rossiter teams played for the town championship. The final score 112 to 98 followed a 98 98 tie after 15 innings with a rally by the lower team for fourteen runs in the sixteenth. Fifty seven players took part as eight umpires officiated and three were disabled. The box score counted 42 homers 53 triplets 73 doubles and 74 errors across five hours.

Ernest J. Stein and a companion struck a telephone pole while driving toward La Crescent at night. The car was slightly damaged and both men escaped with minor injuries. Darkness impaired visibility, forcing them to walk back to La Crosse.

The city may appoint a three citizen commission with one alderman and the mayor to direct its $450000 water system. Senate bill 539, ordered engrossed, was introduced by Otto Bosshard at the mayor and citizens’ request. Opposition from Assemblyman C L Hood peaked in a fiery 30 minute speech. engrossment passed 57 to 7.
La Crosse temperatures cooled to a high of 72 and a low of 46 with no precipitation. Fair and warmer conditions are forecast tonight and Thursday for Wisconsin Minnesota and Iowa with moderate to brisk winds and rising temperatures. High pressure has shifted and a northwestern storm remains central in Saskatchewan as light precipitation remains confined to southern Atlantic states.
