John J. Jenkins former congressman from the Tenth Wisconsin district and former federal judge in Porto Rico is dying at his Chippewa Falls home of general physical breakdown from overwork. He is 68, active in state affairs for decades, born 1843 in Weymouth England, Civil War veteran, later partner in Jenkins & Jenkins, served in Congress 1894 1908, appointed Porto Rico judge then resigned in 1919 and returned to Wisconsin in 1911.
William Mades aged sixty two died at his son-in-law R J Briebachs home after a paralytic stroke. He lived at South Ridge and was among the area’s earliest settlers. Funeral services set for Sunday at one in South Ridge with Rev F W Lemke officiating and burial in Mound Prairie cemetery. Tetley and Elbertson in charge.
John W. Palmer, brother of Henry Palmer, married Miss Mi nerva Naylor of Pleasanton California on May 31. Palmer formerly ran the Palmer livery in La Crosse from 1880 to last year, later moving to Medford Oregon before planning a trip through the eastern cities with his bride.
